KTY: How do you envision your ULTIMATE success story to look like?

G & S: That’s a great question. Our ultimate success story will be when By Husbands For Husbands is world-renowned as a community that makes a difference in marriages.  There will be testimonies of marriages saved because husbands benefited from being a part of our community, listening to our shows, watching our broadcasts, reading our materials, and attending our workshops.  There will be By Husbands For Husbands affiliates worldwide.

Our long term goal is to turn By Husbands For Husbands into the #1 brand for Husbands and Future Husbands by providing a myriad of products, services, and content to enhance their lives. How do we get there?

  • We start by expanding our online presence to cover 50 major US cities, Canada, Europe and parts of Asia.
  • We expand our concept and product lines to cover love, marriage, leadership, spiritual development, fatherhood, entrepreneurship and finances.
  • We create a brick and mortar retail concept that will allow us to segue from our online community into a viable and scalable concept.  These stores will sell branded products and provide an environment where men can bond with each other and where they can bring their wives and family to develop their relationship.

KTY: What do you think are the secret ingredients that propel companies towards success?

G & S:

Team
If you don’t have a solid team with complementary skill sets, your good idea remains just that - a good idea. Good teams can push each other and make each other think critically about the concept.

It’s important for each team member to understand their role and its relative importance to the overall success of the business.  Good teams create synergy and have shared values and a mutual respect for each other – no hubris allowed.  Characteristics of good teams include:

  • A shared vision for a tomorrow that’s better than today.
  • A passion for realizing that vision - An entrepreneur without passion is just a manager.  You must have passion for your concept and for business overall.
  • A commitment to excellence.
  • Unyielding integrity and character in the leadership of the company.
  • A bent towards pragmatism.
  • Establishing systems and process to keep the company going.

KTY:
In your opinion, who are the other “best in class” small companies on the rise that inspire you?

G & S: There are some many great companies in the marketplace.  Companies such as Ning, SNAPP, and Sixapart are great social networking sites that we have been able to leverage for ourselves to create buzz.

From an innovation standpoint we like companies like Pinger, Jott, GrandCentral (now owned by Google) and Blog Talk Radio.

There are some other companies such as TechShop  and Zsweet that have cool concepts and are on the rise in their respective markets.
